The Impact of COVID-19 on Youth – Focus on Asia and Italy

This set of guidelines has been developed by the UNWTO Ethics, Culture and Social Responsibility Department, in collaboration with UN Women. It is a response to the continuing crisis caused by COVID-19 and an update on the initial recommendations issued by UNWTO in May 2020. UNWTO extends special thanks to UN Women for contributing with their valuable technical input and expertise.

The UNWTO Inclusive Recovery Guides on the sociocultural impacts of COVID-19 are living guidelines, subject to revision as the health situation evolves and more information becomes available on the most effective ways to make tourism inclusive and accessible for all.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) identified investments as one of four key areas to be prioritized as the sector restarts and recovers. For this purpose, UNWTO has joined forces with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) to strengthen the capacities of its Member States to safeguard, attract and promote tourism investment projects during and after the pandemic for faster economic recovery.

This series of UNWTO Investment Guidelines outlines how to enhance coordination and cooperation and mobilize global investment mechanisms to respond to a global crisis. "Enabling Frameworks for Tourism Investment" provides insights for understanding and enabling the conditions and barriers to mobilize tourism investment and so build a competitive, sustainable and inclusive tourism sector beyond the attraction and promotion approaches.
