SIROCCO uses value chain analysis, policy coherence analysis and foresight as its main methodological components to overcome challenges in maritime tourism including

  • improve knowledge by addressing current data gaps & incompatibilities
  • address demand volatility by capturing the potential of tourists who can travel in low season and adapting to demographic change
  • overcome sector fragmentation by sharing best practices between Member States, regions and stakeholders and achieving synergies
  • address environmental pressures by improving resource efficiency, waste and pollution prevention and promoting eco-audit schemes
